Supporting Veterans with Ketchum's Got Your Six

Nov 21, 2024

Ketchum's Got Your Six is dedicated to supporting Wisconsin veterans battling Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The organization was founded in honor of Marine veteran Brandon Ketchum, who struggled with PTSD for many years before tragically dying by suicide in 2016. Together, County Materials and Ketchum’s Got Your Six strives to address the emotional and psychological challenges that veterans face after their service.

Veteran suicides happen at a higher rate than non-veteran adults in the U.S., with an average of 17 veterans dying by suicide each day in 2020, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The phrase "Got your six," which originated in the military, symbolizes trust, support, and loyalty among comrades—it's a promise to watch out for one another. Ketchum's family, friends, and numerous advocates are determined to raise awareness and support veterans, reminding them that they are never alone. County Materials partners with Ketchum's Got Your Six to raise funds to train service dogs and pair them with veterans, offering companionship, reducing anxiety, and helping them navigate the challenges of PTSD and other mental health struggles.

Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, County Materials partners with Ketchum's Got Your Six and other organizations to give back to local communities. Each year, the Sonnentag American Foundation supports dozens of worthy causes in four service areas, including Hunger and Homelessness Support, Service Member and Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse and Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring and Skills Building.
