The Performance of Permeable Pavers
Permeable interlocking concrete pavers continue to gain popularity among property owners and contractors because of their ability to manage stormwater. This functional advantage has grown their reputation as an effective stormwater management solution within municipalities, state agencies, and watershed districts complying with EPA-mandated standards. In addition, our permeable pavers come in several colors and textures, offering design versatility.
How Permeable Pavers Work
An area developed with permeable pavers acts like a metal grate or drain. Permeable paver joints allow rainwater and runoff to pass through and seep into the sub-grade soil. As the water passes through aggregates, the natural friction slows the velocity of the runoff and helps prevent soil erosion. In addition, permeable concrete pavers improve stormwater runoff quality because the aggregates act as a filter. Contaminants and suspended particles are captured as the water passes through the aggregate system. This natural filtration protects groundwater and nearby waterways.
Permeable Paver Options
Not only are County Materials’ permeable pavers functional, but they also offer creative options for aesthetically pleasing designs. Our pavers are exceptionally durable and offer a safe tread for pedestrians. County Materials’ line of permeable interlocking pavers includes:
H2O Pro® Pavers
These permeable pavers are manufactured in 31/8 (80 mm) thickness and are dependable for stormwater management. They also withstand heavy vehicular loads at lower speeds, which makes them a strong option for driveways, walkways, and parking lots.
Rejuvenate™ Permeable Pavers
These pavers are manufactured with Genesis Face-Mix Technology® to combine functionality and aesthetics into one permeable paver unit. Genesis Face-Mix results in pavers with long-lasting color, and superior strength and resistance backed by the strength and longevity of concrete. Rejuvenate pavers are ADA-compliant, and their uniform shape optimizes installation speed. Rejuvenate Permeable Pavers incorporate a pressed spacer that creates a consistent edge for machine lay applications and are optimally sized for hand lay applications, including herringbone patterns.
A Versatile Solution
Permeable interlocking pavers are an ideal option for driveways, walkways, parking lots, and any application that requires an effective stormwater management solution. They withstand the stresses of freezing climates. Maintenance can be easier and more cost-effective than asphalt or other surfaces because, if needed, individual pavers can easily be replaced or reset.
