Since 1903, the bank of Luxemburg has served as a local resource for businesses and people throughout Wisconsin. With eight locations, the headquarters building stands as an icon of the bank’s long history. When it came time to expand with a new branch office in Kewaunee, WI, the design inspiration was clear: match the timeless character of the headquarters building in Luxemburg, WI.
Matching the headquarters building and working within budget constraints were the two main goals of the new branch’s construction. Concrete brick masonry was specified with these goals in mind. County Materials manufactures concrete brick masonry in a diverse line of colors, shapes and sizes that affords a traditional clay brick look sought for this financial institution’s new branch but at a more economical cost.
The headquarters was constructed with large quantities of cast stone in custom sizes. To add character and durability, the designers of the new structure complimented the look of cast stone by using Heritage Collection™ Designer Concrete Brick half high units in Dove Gray along the bottom of the branch building. Above this base layer, the rest of the building was constructed with Heritage Collection modular sized units in a custom bronze color that replicated the cast stone colors on the headquarters building. Cast stone was sparingly used on the branch building to add design emphasis.
The overall design embodies a traditional look with minor touches of grandiose. Concrete brick masonry manufactured by County Materials contributed to the traditional aesthetics, all while offering the many practical advantages of concrete masonry construction. The branch building in Kewaunee has made a visual impact and pedestrian connection that exemplifies the professional reputation of the bank and manifests its investment in and support for its local community.
