Solution: Concrete masonry units ensure cohesion with building expansion
When leaders at Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church decided to build a multi-million dollar expansion to their school and preschool, they sought materials that would stand the test of time and match the façade of their existing building.
Lutheran Church Relies on County Materials’ Concrete Masonry Products for School Expansion
Having relied on concrete masonry products manufactured by County Materials for the existing building, the choice was simple. The project leaders were impressed with the quality of the existing concrete masonry and specified Heritage Collection Designer Concrete Brick in Smooth Autumn Blend and Fullface Split Block in White for the expansion.
Project Highlights
MBM Contractors, LLC installed nearly 4,000 SF of concrete brick veneer units in accent panels on the school expansion. The rich reddish brown color of the concrete brick panels adds dimensionality to the two-story expansion and improves the curb appeal of the church as a whole.
To match the white wainscoting of the existing buildings, 580 SF of Splitface Block was also incorporated into the façade. The new building blends seamlessly with the existing structure, demonstrating the lasting color performance of County Materials masonry products. Instead of just coating the brick’s surface, pigments are integrated throughout the entire brick though an integral color blending process.
The use of concrete masonry adds more than just visual interest to a building. Concrete brick inherently insulates building interiors against noise, cold or heat. Resisting fire, rot, and weather, and requiring minimal maintenance, concrete masonry is a sound investment that increases a building’s value.
